The project period 2014/2015 was a huge success for Volda University College (VUC). The Erasmus+ funds enabled some 50 students to have a mobility period for studies at one of our partner universities and 9 further students to perform a traineeship abroad. In addition, some 45 staff/faculty members were sent on mobility periods abroad, while ca. 10 incoming guest lecturers from business/industry enriched the learning environment on our own campus.
2014/2015 saw a slight decrease in the number of incoming exchange students, mostly due to the delayed introduction of Erasmus+ grants and procedures in many European countries. However, the incoming students who came to Volda this school year enjoyed their stay very much and we were able to better integrated them with local students.
The introduction of new administrative procedures and systems in Erasmus+ lead to a great increase in the work burden for the International Office. However, due to large OS-funds and strategic funding from the VUC leadership, we were successful in adding a new (3rd) position in the International Office. This also enabled us to implement important projects such as improving our information about student mobility (both on-line and in direct meetings with students), informing the academic departments about the benefits of internationalizations, starting up the Erasmus+ strategic partnership application for Euro-Anime and perform a thorough review of all of the exchange agreements of VUC.
