The vision of Hanken School of Economics is to be a genuinely international and an internationally recognised research-oriented business school. Consequently, internationalisation is the most important driving force for the development of the School. One of the objectives of Hanken’s internationalisation strategy is to support the students in pursuing a successful career in the international business world, academic community and public sector. Every Hanken graduate must be prepared for a career abroad or a career in Finland which includes continuous international operations and contacts.
The School’s exchange programme including a mandatory semester abroad is one of the cornerstones in achieving the objective, and the Erasmus+ programme is vital since most of our partnerships are in Europe and the majority of the outbound and inbound students study within the Erasmus+ programme. Our assumption is that the mandatory semester abroad makes our graduates more competitive on the international labour market when they look for employment. Currently, almost a quarter of the recent Hanken graduates work outside Finland, mainly in Europe
