Higher education student and staff mobility project

Internationalization and modernization has been integrated into the strategy priorities of Business School Ostrava, plc. Contex: Business School Ostrava plc has fully applied an academic credit transfer system (ECTS) to give transparency to the recognition procedures and has been issuing Diploma Supplement to accompany every degree successfully completed by a student. Mobility helps individuals increase their professional, social and intercultural skills and employability, which is the cornerstone of the internationalization and modernization of education and the main tool for the further development of the European Higher Education area. International cooperation helps increase attainment levels to provide graduates and researchers Europe needs. Business School Ostrava plc has maintained its active international contacts, the experience resource for students and staff. Erasmus+ activities are continually monitored, and regularly evaluated. Inter-institutional agreements are based on a comprehensive understanding of the partner institution, compatibility of academic profiles and relationship of trust. Signed bilateral agreements respect academic interests, geographical and subject area balance (Finland in the North, Cyprus in the South, Spain in the West, Turkey in the East; study program of Economics and Management). Objectives: Business School Ostrava plc has the ambition to improve the quality and relevance of higher education, as stipulated in all strategic documents. Activities, number and profile of participants: Student mobility has been given priority within the HEI internationalization and modernization. Student training were more promoted, supported and encouraged, thus linking higher education, research and business towards the excellence and regional development. Student placements are a compulsory part of study program of first and second cycles. Both cycles were represented. Mentoring and support arrangements were offered both to outgoing and incoming students. More efforts were put into integration of mobile students. Home student volunteers ensured more interaction. Staff mobility was supported, encouraged and assessed by the internal assessment of the staff.Both student and staff mobility tend to increase, the number of mobility increased by 5 (23 instead of 17). Business School Ostrava actively promoted and supported student and staff mobility and antidiscrimination policy. Results and impact: Business School Ostrava plc has the ambition to cooperate within the international framework with the sustainable and balanced outcomes for all partners. Currently Business School Ostrava plc initiated development of a double degree program with a partner HEI. The strategy corresponds with the EC documents, The Higher Education Modernisation Agenda, and EU2020 Agenda, declaring that higher education, with its links with research and innovation, plays a crucial role in personal development and economic growth, providing the highly qualified people and the articulate citizens that Europe needs to create jobs and prosperity. Business School Ostrava plc has been active in supporting and encouraging international mobility, leading to quality and relevance of high education. Mobility outcomes help sharing experience, implementation of new ideas and innovation process developments. Strengthening quality through mobility and cross-border cooperation is the challenge Business School Ostrava plc faces. Active academic cooperation has resulted in international projects preparation. Long term benefits: Student and staff mobility is a relevant and efficient tool for linking higher education, research and business, leading to higher institution modernization and student career development. Business School Ostrava believes in increasing the competitiveness of its graduates, the institution and Europe´s higher education systems.
