Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

1. Context and background: IES José Luis Sampedro offers the following studies: Higher Technician in Analysis and Quality Control Laboratory, Advanced Expert in Anatomical Pathology and Citology, in Diagnostic Imaging, and in Environmental Chemistry. All these students have to pass a training period in a work placement to be able to get their title. In the academic year 2012/13, two students performed mobilities for traineeship in Mater Dei Hospital in Malta being very satisfied of this experience by all the parts: students, sending organization and receiving organization. In the academic year 2013/14 no mobilities were possible as the students which were originally interested, declined to participate due to economic reasons (they considered the grant was not big enough for the expenditures). 2. Objectives: The aim of our project is to participate in the mobility of students of short cycle so that they make vocational training in european companies in the Erasmus Programme context, with the following objectives: - to complete the student training in an european company, so that the student is integrated in a global european feeling and to promote the intercultural dialogue - to enhance the empleability opening the possibilities to other european countries so that it is greater the geographical context where they can apply for a job - to potenciate a better linguistic competence of our students - to offer the student an opportunity to know other cultures and people from other nations in and out of the company during the placement - to let european companies participate in our student training - to open our High School to other cultures to promote interculturality and as a way of preventing xenophobia and racism - to compile information from the participants to get a better process of teaching and learning 3. Number and profile of participants: In the academic year 2014/15 we applied for two mobilities, but we only got one mobility. Students were informed and after a selection process, a student from Advanced Expert in Anatomical Pathology and Citology was selected and he participated in the mobility. 4. Description of the activities that have been performed: This short cycle has a period of "Training at Work" of 5 months. So, the student had a placement of 3 months in a Spanish company and the other 2 months took place in Mater Dei Hospital within this project of mobility Erasmus+. 5. Results and impact achieved: The student was well integrated in the work team of the Department of Pathology, where the training took place, and there he could complete his academic preparation. Mater Dei Hospital evaluated him very positively and therefore he got his title. The student has also received the Europass Mobility document in English and in Spanish, which can be useful in his professional career. Besides, he improved his linguistic competence in English and his social abilities having the chance of going out from his ordinary environment and facing different situations in an autonomous and responsible way. 6. Long-term benefits: The student has informed the educational community about his experience: students and parents, encouraging them to participate in our Erasmus+ Project. The Head Master has informed the educacional community through the teaching staff and the school board members about the internationalization and european dimension of our College.
