2014/15 was the University's first venture into Erasmus international exchange programs. Our project aimed to start small, sending/receiving minimum numbers. It was thought that the outcomes of the projects would provide a greater understanding of the ways in which the University could engage further with the Erasmus ethos and practice going forward. In this year we were able to send a junior member of administrative staff to Hungary where she spent some time shadowing experienced staff there. The aim of the project was to allow her to network with colleagues in the sector, learn about a foreign HE sector and enhance her understanding of administration practices. The project was successful as she was able to learn about student record keeping and exam processes, procedures and gather best practice, whilst meeting a network of peers. Her feedback was positive and she was able to share her experience of foreign processes with colleagues in the department. Although we were not able to send any students abroad on this occasion, the university does welcome students from overseas, and hopes to engage outgoing student interest in the future.
