Tilburg University inspires its students and staff to contribute to the quality of society today and tomorrow. It does this by educating and developing young people into individuals capable of fulfilling responsible positions in society, by providing lifelong and post experience education and by conducting relevant research. Future society needs highly educated employees who are active in an international context.
Tilburg University responds to this need with a strong international orientation by participating in international research programs, alliances with leading universities worldwide and mobility programs for staff and students. The current international strategy focuses on the promotion of international mobility and realizing an international campus at Tilburg University.
Participation in ERASMUS+ is key to the realization of the above-mentioned goals.
Tilburg University is dedicated to conducting high quality exchange of both students and staff with our partners in Europe and is committed to the support of its students and staff engaging in these activities. This is evidenced by the high level of overall satisfaction among its incoming and outgoing participants in the 2014-2015 project year.
The benefits of the project to the individual participants is apparent in the learning outcomes of the project: more than 90% of students reported improvement in their adaptability, ability to work with others from different backgrounds, and have become more open-minded about new challenges. The large majority reported improvement to their other soft-skills as well. Most staff also reported an improvement to their intercultural skills, job satisfaction, and language skills and have learned from good practices abroad.
On an institutional level participation in the project has resulted in strengthened alliances, higher quality research and teaching, a more international campus and better qualified graduates.
In 2014-15 Tilburg University achieved 25% more outgoing ERASMUS exchanges than in the last (LLL) project year. In total, 235 Tilburg University students and 14 staff were mobile under the first ERASMUS+ project.
