Higher education student and staff mobility project

This is the first project presented by the IES Mossèn Alcover for training practices in companies in the European Union. We were interested in offering the students of CFGS Child Education an experience in EU countries that are a benchmark in children's education and which have innovative pedagogies based on children's interests and therefore, these countries plan their educational action according to that vision. After a long search for possible preschools from 0 to 3 years, which is the age in which our students develop their practices, we chose bilingual children's schools in Berlin. We consider this option because they start their work from innovative educational experiences and also being bilingual school facilitate the intregration of ours students and don’t require a very high level of knowledge of the language because the methodology used departs from the language immersion and therefore children have the reference language of each one. Furthermore our students receive a language training in German at the IES before their trip and this is supplemented with the training received by the OLS. The main objective of the mobility was offering innovative and different environments to our student that can’t be found in our country, and try to open doors to new areas of employment. We consider the mobility around the UE an opportunity to learn new ways of working, to identify good practices and to expand the frontiers of employment. To request the number of mobilities we considered the students interested in making their practices CFGS Child Education in any EU country and try to adjust to the maximum to avoid having to return funds for failing the objectives. Because of this lack of experience we present a project for two years although because of the mobilities we requested we needed only a year. In fact, the four assigned mobilities were performed during 2014-15. The students were selected through a public call. 5 students for 4 mobilities were presented. We offered the student that was left in reserve, the possibility to participate in the project with a grant Zero, but for economic reasons she resigned to enter the project. The profile of the selected students was students with good academic background, responsible and motivated to participate in a project of such characteristics, their level of knowledge of languages (mainly English) was taken into account although it was not relevant to rule out their participation in the project. To start up with the project, the first task that we did was to search for kindergartens that suited to our needs. Secondly, we contacted those nursery schools to know their availability to welcome students in practices as part of the Erasmus + project, and exchanged information with them to make sure that they responded to our expectations. Once the kindergartens were selected, in January 2015 we arranged an appointment to meet the headmaster of every nursery school, with the aim of checking the conditions of their facilities and to confirm that the plan practices of our students could be done without any difficulties. On the other hand, while we were closing the details with the kindergartens, we started the selection process of the students interested in participating in this program and, once selected, we provided them a linguistic and cultural training. Once the selection process finished, bureaucratic and administrative procedures started: collecting all the information of the collaborating centers, introducing the necessary data in the Mobility Tool, the arrangement of learning agreements and grant agreements, insurance management, finding accommodation for the students and so on. The practice assessment done by the students is entirely satisfactory. In fact, one of them was offered a job in the nursery school. Unfortunately, she had to reject the offer due to personal reasons The information of this experience had been conveyed through speeches with the first grade students, through the website, etc. We truly believe that the benefits of this experience are enormous, especially those related with the internationalization of our high school and the possibility of offering to our students a completely different experience that it couldn’t be carried out in our immediate environment.
