Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

? Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) has a strategic aim to be ?a University that is globally engaged and embraces internationalism to the benefits of its students, staff and partners?. During 2014/15, against this background, the University has taken a number of proactive steps to raise the importance and intention of being positioned to deliver an international experience for each of its students. For example a new Study Abroad Team has been established, with the Erasmus function sitting therein, and, a change to the University Academic Framework will be introduced in September 2016 to move from yearlong module delivery to module delivery within semesters. Both of these developments are key in demonstrating the University commitment to the internationalisation agenda and the provision of international opportunity for students. ? 2014/15 began with an Audit by the British Council. Feedback from the audit outcomes and shared examples of good practice have been taken on board and used as enhancement activity to current processes and procedures. For example Erasmus+ now has a far greater prominence on the University website in that one click takes the potential LJMU applicant and the current students to the landing page https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/discover/your-student-experience/erasmus ? 2014/15 saw continued relationships with European partners some stretching back over twenty years, with more academic disciplines being brought into action through the establishment of a number of new Bilateral agreements. The first use of mobility funding for non-academic staff was made during this year. ? 2014/15 saw a higher percentage of student traineeships than study placements. The percentage of placements securing widening participation/disadvantaged background funding remained on trend. Total mobility?s reflect consistency of activity with previous years and activity took place across all cycles (UG, PGT and PGR) including the introduction of the Graduate Placement scheme. ? The student feedback for 2014/15 is found overall to be extremely positive and the granular information provides a clear steer for the continued enhancement of particular services.
