Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Erasmus+ Programme remains firmly embedded within the University at undergraduate level and supports the University's internationalisation agenda. It achieves this in two ways: in the general, by facilitating the flow of ideas, knowledge and good practice within and without the University, and in the specific by enabling individual staff and students to expand their horizons and enhance their career prospects. The academic year 2014-15 brought a significant increase in initial student applications interested in taking part in the Erasmus+ programme. Buckinghamshire New University was successful in meeting its target numbers for participating outgoing students. The success of the exchanges undertaken by Bucks New University students resulted in three of our students being selected by the Erasmus+ National Agency to become official Erasmus+ Student Ambassadors. In the 2014-15 academic year the Erasmus+ programme was for the first time actively championed by the Law Department with balanced student and staff mobilities. Staff exchanges were encouraged and supported with four academic members of staff going for teaching and one PSE for training. Also during 2014-15 the University successfully agreed Inter-institutional Agreements for the first time relating to provision in the Faculty of Society and Health: Nursing and Social Work. These Agreements provide in the first instance for the exchange of staff (academic and PSEs). It is envisaged that this will be extended to include student mobility where appropriate. In addition to the new relationships recorded above, the following departments continued their participation in the Erasmus+ scheme with exchanges of staff and/or students: Business Management, Creative Advertising, Music Management, and Travel & Tourism. The Erasmus+ and Exchanges team continue to work toward the vision of increasing the proportion of UK domiciled students accessing international opportunities thereby contributing to the European Higher Education Area?s mobility target of 20% of graduating students with an international mobility experience as part of their studies by 2020.
