Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014,
End date: Sep 30, 2015
PROJECT
FINISHED
We have completed a successful project period and are glad to be a part of Erasmus family. We have carried out the goals of the project by sending more students than proposed in the application.
The project was planned with great motivation aiming to send students to develop professional skills, experiences, cooperate work in the group, take a decisiong about obstacles and paractice it, to acquire problem solving skills, to plan and put their learning into practice individually, to plan and develop tasks and duties, to learn new cultures. The participants are involved in the projects from all cycles and various departments. The content of the project intends to provide students with skills mentioned above before their professional career. In this sense, we have reached our goals at the end of the mobility period. In order to reach our goals, we worked with our partners effectively and communicate each other.
Students registered in different faculties, graduate schools and departments have completed their mobility with success.
Our main goal was to send more participants using the given grant. Actually, we proposed to send 42 participants in total, but we could send 47 participants at the end of the project. Although most of them were undergraduate students, there were graduate and recently graduated students among the participants. In detail, 39 participants were undergraduate students and 1 participant was graduate student. 7 of the participants were recently graduated one. In the project we allocated 10 participants from the partner universities. All parties agreed on the allocation number per universities. Hitit University sent 5 students and Kastamonu University sent 4 students. As we thought they would send more students than we thought, we did not use sum of the money. This result contributed to the internationalization strategy of our university.
Students participating in SMT achieved their academic and departmental goals. They also had the opportunity to improve their English language skills and learn a second foreign language in their host countries. Thus, upon their return, they were more self-confident and self-motivated in academic and social environments. Actually, most them want to participate in the program again and have already started to make their preparations.
In the long term, the success of the outgoing students was encouraging for other prospective participants. For instance, Erasmus program is a motivator for students to achieve higher level academic success and beter proficiency in foreign languages in order be selected for the program. Since, our university is a student-oriented one, we plan to increase the number of mobility for students and staff at all levels. Furthermore, this successful project motivated us to conduct new and different mobility projects as internationalization is one of our primary goal of our institution. In the long term, our consortium might include inbound student mobility as well as student mobility for studies and staff mobility.
