Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Conservatorio di Musica "Luigi Cherubini" in Firenze (CMLC) is one of the leading academic institutions in Italy for Music Performance and Composition and aims at providing and maintaining the best quality in higher musical education. Our institution is both deeply rooted in the secular artistic tradition of the city of Firenze and constantly projected to all kind of innovations originating from the contemporary scene. The CMLC's aim is to continue devoloping this very special mixture between ancient and modern artistic world: this aim is to be achieved also through improving teaching standards as well as creating opportunities for teachers and students to learn a larger variety of composition and performance techniques, also developing music artistic research. The CMLC through the financial Agreement for 2014-16 cooperated with several partner institutions in the frame of the Erasmus+ Programme. It resulted in mobilities of students, staff and teachers with the following partners: Ferenc Liszt Music Academy Budapest, Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Sevilla, Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Cordoba, F. Mendelssohn Musikhochschule Leipzig, Erasmushogenschool Brussel, Den Haag Royal Conservatory, Music University Vienna, F. Nowowiejski Academy of Music Bydgoszcz, Gdansk Moniusko Academy. The STA mobilites were hosted in Budapest, Leipzig, Bydgoszcz and Gdanks. All Teachers mobilities were highly appreciated and we received enthousiastic feedback. Prof. Bellugi was invited twice in Poland, to Gdansk and Bydgoszcz, fro seminars on Early Music performance. Prof. Furlani held a masterclass on contemproary music composition in Budapest, and prof. Torrigiani was invited to give lessons on the stage interpretation of Rossini's operas at the same academy. Prof. Battiston gave a seminar in Gdansk on the Italian repertoire for accordeon, while prof. Vismara'seminar on the viola and string practise reached the F.Mendelssohn Musikhochschule in Leipzig. Also our STT mobility resulted in a very important result: the Erasmus Office assistant mrs Ballerini and the Personnel Office manager mr. Carletti went to Budapest Liszt Music Academy to prepare a long-term project to create a Consortium for the co-production of operas in the 2016-2020 period. As receiving institution, the CMLC Firenze welcomed teachers, staff and students from Cordoba, Sevilla, Vienna, Berlin, Leipzig, Graz, Bydgoszcz, Budapest, Ankara, Warsaw, Gdansk, Malaga, Sofia. From Budapest prof. Almasi-Toth (stage and opera director) has performed a very interesting seminar on the interpretation of Mozart's Die Zauberfloete for a large group of students from both the opera classes and the vocal coach programs. A stronger cooperation between the CMLC and the F. Liszt Academy Budapest has been build since 2012 with the Exchange of opera productions (Dido and Aeneas, Don Giovanni, Trittico) and will result in further important projects. As far as the student mobilities are concerned, all of them have spent at least one semester in the receiving institutions, and on the return they all described their stay as a very satisfactory one. A much visible increase in many competences both in musical and language fileds was noticed in all of them. The analysis of the mobilities proves that the staff and students access to the Erasmus+ programme results in a deeper self-development competences and pro-European feeling. It is clear that the process of internationalization of the CMLC widely benefits from the participation in the Erasmus+ programme. The CMLC would like to point out all sort of profitable cooperations with the partners institutions, resulting in high quality music productions. Other intersting results: six incoming students (1st cycle, piano, strings and voice) decided to continue their studies enrolling in our 2nd cycle programmes in Firenze.
