Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Mobility Education Erasmus + project included the mobilities of students, teachers and staff of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. The main objectives were to enable: students to obtain part of their education at a foreign university; teachers to exchange ideas as well as educational and scientific contacts with foreign students and teachers; employees to facilitate the training at foreign academic centers and learning about the administrative structure of foreign universities. The program was attended by 21 students, 15 teachers and 8 office workers. During the project , new bilateral contacts were established, which resulted in the mobility of both teachers and students. A good example of this exchange is an agreement with the University of Catania. Signing the bilateral agreement resulted in the exchange of teachers, student mobility, as well as training for employees, carried out at the university in Catania. Another example of a realized mobility project is a Song Course (Studium Pieśni). This type of postgraduate education is designed for students, graduates, artists, teachers of primary and secondary schools. This course is the only one of its kind in Poland that deepens the knowledge in the field of European vocal lyrics. The project invited many outstanding teachers from overseas. The Song Course enjoys great popularity at home and abroad. Many foreign teachers are interested in this project and express their readiness to participate in it. The participants were very interested in deepening knowledge within the topic. Their skills can be observed and admired during the concerts organized during the course. The activity connected with teaching at foreign universities also aroused a great interest in local students at the centers abroad. Many students came to Poland to receive part of their education at our university. Foreign students took an active part in academic life at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. It was especially for them that “The Chamber Music Concert of the Erasmus + students " was organized on 19.04.2015. The concert on the one hand aimed at the integration of foreign students, on the other hand offered foreign students the opportunity to present themselves to the Polish audience. This way they could express themselves artistically and show the skills acquired in the educational process. The students of the FCUM in turn praised the fact that they could benefit from the program by going to foreign centers. The contact with outstanding international lecturers contributes to improving the knowledge and new thinking related to the matter of the studies. A look from the perspective of other musical works’ culture ( e.g. German, Spanish, Italian) at their role and importance in the history and culture of a country is not to be underestimated in the search for creative inspiration and performance. While on mobility, the teachers had the opportunity to present their pedagogical and artistic skills and introduce trademark courses and teaching methods and understanding of music. The mobility was for the pedagogues a great value due to their contacts with foreign students and opportunities to seek new aspects of understanding of artistic tasks in conjunction with the improvement of trademark teaching methods. It was also reflected in the questionnaires of lecturers prepared for the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, relating to the activities in this field. Not infrequently, great artistic and professional contacts were created resulting in mutual exchange of students and teachers between universities. Many foreign universities offer education only at a bachelor’ degree level. They are keen on a deeper cooperation with our university that would provide the possibility of opening education at a Master’s degree level. One example is the University of Seville. Foreign universities are also very much attracted by the possibility of carrying out the PhD at our university since we are one of the few countries that provide such opportunities. The doctorate of their graduates is a weighty matter in the planning and strategic thinking of the universities. The employees of the FCUM praised the opportunity to get training in foreign centers. Learning administrative structure, local solutions, the organization of work and management was highly appreciated. The mobility experience often led to valuable insights, giving the opportunity to exchange ideas and present solutions, enabled understanding the structure of the university and how it worked. Foreign centers also showed a great interest in training offered as part of the STT to the universities abroad, who would send their employees. The opportunity to present their own solutions is a valuable element of international cooperation and building the exterior image of the university.
