CONTEXT, HISTORY PROJECT
The will to give architectural education its rightful place in the higher education landscape has helped to organize a new educational frame. According to its various tasks (initial training, continuous and specialized, research, cultural diffusion), ENSAM has developed numerous partnerships able to promote its inclusion in the territory while opening at European and international level. ENSAM is one of 25 institutions associated with COMUE and is the only school to have an overseas antenna on the island of Reunion, which trains students in the Design Diploma in Architecture (DEEA). ENSAM has a publishing house (Editions de l'Espérou).
The school project of the National School of Montpellier architecture is based on an international strategy whose principles are in line with the guidelines issued by the European Commission. Indeed, ENSAM is part of the objective of the modernization of higher education in order to support growth and jobs. ENSAM wants to improve the quality and relevance of higher education by making more readable its educational program developed transverse to the Commission on Educational and Research in connection with the Researchers teachers.
The pedagogy of ENSAM offers a wide variety of teaching modes and promotes an active process of learning of the student. It takes place in an educational context in which an important place is given to TD, seminars, educational project rather than large lectures (25% of teaching modes). The personal background of the students are highlighted through the possibility of a gap year. During this year the student's personal project to a professional practice or an international opening is framed by a teacher. This device aims to empower students in its training courses.
ENSAM is the only national school of French and European architecture to have obtained the accreditation of the UIA, International Union of Architects. ENSAM follows regular evaluation procedures such instances the CNSER (National Council of Higher Education and Research), the HCERES (High Council of the assessment of research and higher education). ENSAM is part of the group of institutions experiencing a five-year contract with the ministry on the basis of a shared diagnosis.
OBJECTIVES
Careful towards the evolution of the architectural profession, ENSAM accompanies diversification of practices and professions related to architecture in its training offer. One of the priority objectives of the institution is to train future architects with an opening on Europe and the world. Teaching, recruitment methods and the international strategy have ambitions of an opening towards innovative training adapted to the labor markets.
ENSAM is to simplify the modes of governance and the legibility of the chart.
And NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS PROFILE
Outgoing mobility is an integral part of the educational journey through workshops, master classes, internships and mobility studies. In 2014/2015, 48 individuals benefited from European aid for their individual mobility and 56 incoming students has been welcomed. The public teacher mobility is predominantly male, which matches the profile of the teaching staff as a whole. However the public student mobility is predominantly female. The architecture student population has feminized in recent years, which explains this trend.
The Erasmus program activities + concerned the following areas:
- Mobility studies and traineeship, 42 students have carried out study periods of one or two semesters or traineeships.
- Staff mobility for training, four teachers have made teaching periods to develop the network of European partner schools.
- Staff mobility training, two teachers have conducted training periods to acquire new professional and pedagogical skills.
Moreover, many activities around mobility have developed such integration week, translations communication media, updating of the IN Guide.
