Context / Background Our Institution has started the process of internationalization seven years ago; one of the most important and significant contribution comes from the Erasmus Programme, through: - student mobility inbound and outbound; - teacher mobility and consequent growing number of foreign students who decide to study at our Conservatory; - foreign guest teachers, who often stimulate in our students the decision to do an Erasmus mobility, possibly with the same teacher who just came to visit us; - mobility of staff for training. The Erasmus Programme is therefore an acknowledged and known fact by all members of the institution; the Masterclasses of guest teachers are now established events. We reached a good number of partner institutions; but the opportunity of Traineeship wasn’t offered yet. Aims In the framework of the overall priorities (improving the quality of teaching and learning through the comparison with our partners and the contact with different cultures and educational approaches; recognition of competences acquired abroad; deepening of the knowledge of languages; training experiences abroad, in order to stimulate the entrepreneurship of the students), our specific objectives were: - a wider dissemination of the Erasmus experience, leading to an increase in the number of mobilities; - a more adequate preparation of mobility (meticulous Agreements, language training, assistance on accomodation, practical aspects and insurance, recognition and enhancement of their experience); - the implementation of the Traineeship Mobility for the first time; - new Interinstitutional Agreements. Number and type of participants SMS : 7 students (I and II cycle and the Old system) SMP : 2 students - (Cycle II). STA : 6 mobilities outbound (5 instrumentals; 1 Theoretical) 11 mobilities inbound STT : 2 mobilities outbound (2 professors, staff members of the International Relations) 1 mobility inbound. Description of activities SMS - 5 piano students, 1 student of Musicology ,1 Jazz Drums student. Students attended the courses provided in the host institution, and their credits have been recognized in their curriculum. The average stay was a semester. SMP – 2 students to private companies (a music research agency and a secondary school of music), a student of Musicology and a singing student. STA - 5 for the following instruments: Organ, Trumpet and Chamber Music; 1 theoretical subject: Theory and Practice of harmony. Teachers held masterclasses on topics agreed with the host institutions, which involved students of I and II cycle, often closing with a final event. The average duration was 4 days. STT - 2 mobilities, with job shadowing at the international relation office, with special reference to the organization of international events; 5 days duration. Within the same project falls also the incoming mobility: 4 Erasmus students and 11 teachers. Masterclasses: 3 Organ; 3 Piano; 1 Song Writing; 1 Trumpet; 1 of Phonetics and Comparative Philology; 1 for Violin, 1 Chamber Music. For each masterclass we agreed on topics, timing and structure, the number and level of participating students. The average duration was three days, while some masters were longer. 3 teacher concerts and several performances of "incoming students" at events organized by the school. STT - 1 incoming mobility. Results / impact Our numbers may not appear remarkable compared to University performances but are significant when regarding the Artistic Higher Education Area, which is still not enough experienced in Erasmus Programme and is traditionally not particularly prone to long-term mobility because of the very close relationship between teacher and student. When compared to the previous year, the increase in the percentage of outbound mobilities was above 100%. Also in the number of masterclasses of guest teachers there was a 10% increase over the previous year. Beyond the increasing numbers, which were one of the goals, the project has seen a significant involvement of students and teachers in the activities, with the achievement of other objectives: improvement and internationalization of teaching and learning, also with the offer of traineeships abroad; an improvement of many organizational aspects, a better dissemination of the events and a greater visibility of our institution, both in Italy and internationally; a great impact of foreign masterclasses, the attendance of which is also recognized in the curriculum of the students.
