Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

BILGI confirms and emphases Erasmus+ as a strong and important part of its strategy for internationalization. With this in mind, BILGI acknowledges mobility of students and staff, and its participation in European and international cooperation projects as key components as well as its contribution to the institutional quality. All the objectives described in the Erasmus Charter and the agreement signed between BILGI and Turkish National Agency met with the project. BILGI respected in full the principles of non-discrimination set out in the project and ensured equal access and opportunities to mobile participants from all backgrounds. BILGI also ensured that student and staff mobility for education or training purposes is based on a learning agreement for students and a mobility agreement for staff validated in advance between the home and host institutions or enterprises and the mobile participants. BILGI ensured full recognition for satisfactorily completed activities of study mobility and traineeships in terms of credits awarded and also provided incoming mobile participants and their home institutions with transcripts containing a full, accurate and timely record of their achievements at the end of their mobility period. BILGI charged no fees to incoming students for tuition, registration, examinations, or access to laboratory and library facilities. Our target is the quality assurance in each level of the mobility. Including student, staff and faculty exchanges, quality must start from the selection procedures to credit transfer; from staff training planning to implementation of training outcomes; from teaching planning to implementation of new technics in the classes by welcoming international standards in every cycle. To this end, BILGI Erasmus Office and the International Offices of the partner institutions, Department Coordinators, Student Affairs and Faculties worked closely to assist incoming/outgoing students and staff before/during and after mobility programs for monitoring and support. BILGI has already developed joint and double BA and MA programs in 8 fields with three of our Erasmus partners. As for cooperation in multilateral projects, European Institute and newly founded Project Office are providing information and support services on application for multilateral projects, especially IP, CD, TN and Jean Monnet projects. In plan, is to establish a Joint Master Degree program, a multidisciplinary Summer School at BILGI focusing on communication studies. In the 2014-2015 Academic Year, under the Erasmus+ Key Action 103-Learning Mobility of Individuals, Higher education student and staff mobility project, BILGI sent 186 outgoing students and received 358 incoming students under Erasmus exchange program, 12 outgoing students and 13 incoming students under the Erasmus traineeship program, 11 outgoing academic staffs and 9 incoming for teaching exchange and lastly 9 outgoing and 16 incoming administrative staffs under the staff training program. To this end, BILGI will continue to develop and raise the level of cooperation with partners in EU countries; will continue to promote and support student and staff, thus increase the number of participants in each mobility program.
