The “Pôle d’enseignement agricole public Edgard PISANI” is a public agricultural and vocational teaching centre. About 350 students, trainees and apprentices attend the school from Year 9 to the HND.
By taking part into international cooperation projects for a few years now - Comenius, Leonardo, Erasmus – the School has gained and developed skills in the implementation of those projects. The project is within the school international development policy.
Every year, about fifty students are engaged in the HND “Animal Productions” in our school. They will be employed as advanced technicians in different companies in animal breeding. The educational staff is composed by about fifteen teachers.
During this two-year project, a two-month internship in a foreign company was proposed to every student and a one-week internship in a foreign school or company had been proposed to the staff. Over the three motilities offered, unfortunately only two opportunities had been seized:
- A two-month internship in an agricultural research and development German centre had been achieved by a student. The skills she had acquired during this course were evaluated during a final exam. This final exam represents 16% of de HND.
- One teacher realised a one-week internship in a Spanish vocational school to exchange about professional practises in the field of student internship management. The aim was to improve relationship between enterprises and the school to co-evaluate the skills acquired by the trainee.
Indeed, we did not achieve our gaol concerning the number of motilities offered, this project had created a boost among the staff the students and moreover it is a real benefit for the school. This project has contributed to the improvement of the way to teach in HND classes: training plan has been reviewed; assessment plan has been adapted to the ECTS system to be relevant when necessary. It is too early to evaluate the real and the long-term impacts of this project, but anyway it has contributed to the modernization in HND classes.
