Higher education student and staff mobility project

Conform to our institutional strategy the main aim is to achieve effective, innovative and professional education resulting in a marketable degree. Although the deriving objectives of our Erasmus+ mobility project for the academic year of 2014-15 in quantitative terms have not been achieved, the overall qualitative indicators are more promising. 1. Excellence in Student Mobility. The cooperation with Erasmus+ partners intended to focus on exchange especially in the field of Humanities, Cultural, Social, Economic, Tourism and Media Studies contributing proactively to the development of engaging, relevant and personalized learning and working experiences that mirror the students? daily lives and the reality of their future careers by improving their preparedness for the globalized labour market with special reference to intercultural awareness of the European system of values. Hungary, as a country, situated at crossroads of Eastern, Southern and Western cultures, could be an ideal place for immersion into intercultural experiences. 2. Excellence in Faculty and Staff Mobility. Engagement of the faculty/staff in international mobility as well as internationalization at home is integrated in KJU?s strategic management of Professional Lifecycle Model. In this respect the Erasmus+ mobiltiy program contributed to both the formalised and the informal / non-formal ways of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The Bruges Communiqué (2010) states that we need to adapt content, infrastructure and methods of learning in order to keep pace with shifts to new technologies and work organization. Apart from the conventional aspects of staff-exchange, the programme can be a talent pool of non-formal and informal learning opportunities offering cost-effective and sustainable mechanisms to support and enhance formal CPD for instance by methods of peer-learning, experience sharing or shadowing. 3. Excellence in Innovative Education. At KJU, an almost 8-year-long development process has led to a new education model, the Hungarian and EU Brand awarded PIQ & Lead?model (http://www.kodolanyi.hu/piqandlead/, which integrates the principles of knowledge transfer and acknowledgement of skills and competences acquired and thus facilitates inter-institutional mobility as well as adds an extra value to cooperation. Profession, Innovation, Quality and Leadership expressed by the key words of the model have been integrated into the curricula of the courses, as well. Students become familiar with the quality standards and quality assurance tasks related to their future job profile. They are often given tasks that require innovative and quality-conscious solutions for a professional issue. Most of this work is carried out in teams, where they have the opportunity to develop their own leadership skills. In respect of their program students get the opportunity to develop the leadership and management skills in the context of their major. The PIQ & Lead?model considers the existing knowledge of students. The model recognizes their previously acquired competences, so students don?t have to learn what they already know. Whatever the program of studies, students can take courses in another program and have the accumulated credits acknowledged. The model relies on a personalized mentor support from enrolment to graduation. The PIQ & Lead? model takes into consideration modern higher educational perspectives and approaches. Its ultimate goal in compliance with the Horizon 2020 expectations is for students to find their place as excellent employees on the national, European or global labour market.
