Higher education student and staff mobility project

The Higher Education Organization IES PRÍNCIPE DE ASTURIAS in Lorca (Murcia), Spain, with Erasmus code E MURCIA 14 has carried out a project within the Erasmus+ Program , Key Action: Learning Mobility For Individuals, Action: Mobility For learners and Staff, Type of Activity: Higher Education Student and Staff Mobility , under the 2014 Call (Contract Number: 2014-1-ESO1-kA103-000137). The total duration of the project has been 16 months, being the start date: 01/06/2014 and end date: 30/09/2015. The project aims were to get two Erasmus grants for trainee students abroad for three months with the objective that these students would be able to work in a company in the Commerce Department where they could put into practice the theoretical knowledge acquired during their two years´ training in a Higher Vocational Course in International Trade. The activities that the students carried out during their work placement were: Analyze and select foreign markets; do strategic research to adapt the product to foreign markets and select the appropriate means of penetration into the market ; make contact with Official Organizations; be aware of the basic aspects of communication used to make commercial offers; be able to fill in the necessary documents to manage the foreign trade transactions; be able to arrange the insurance paperwork: get the necessary information to secure the products internationally; be able to use properly a word processor, excel and date base programs and specific computer programs for international commerce transactions; have a global knowledge of international INCOTERMS; be able to communicate fluently in the foreign language used in the company; know the basic concepts of health and safety at work; manage the proper storage of goods; identify the different domestic and international means of transport and be aware of their main technical and commercial characteristics; be able to choose the most suitable means of transport for each case and arrange documentation; select the best way of financing suitable for foreign transactions; be able to fill in bank and personal checks , arrange documentation related to pay orders in the case of using Documentary Credits and be able to control the international finance transactions throughout the computer. Regarding the project results, we must say that finally only one of the students selected to do the work placement abroad carried out the project successfully. This work has been recognized as part of his Vocational Training Course with 22 ECTS
