Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Erasmus+ programme is an essential part of our international mobility policy for HEC students in the Grande Ecole. Our educational rules ensure that all students will have an opportunity for at least one semester abroad, whether in an academic institution or a business internship. HEC students may go abroad during any one of three years during the Grand Ecole programme (bachelor’s final year, or Masters y1 or y2). Today, future business managers can no-longer be conceivably formed in a strictly national setting. Each year, around 400 students benefit from an academic mobility, with 112 of them taking part in the Erasmus+ scheme in the year 2014-15. HEC welcomes the same amount of students from our partner universities on a reciprocity basis, for an exchange semester as part of the Erasmus+ programme. This helps to support student mobility, and open windows to the wider world. However, over the years we have seen that Europe is becoming less regarded as an “international” destination, with respect to the cultural gap and perception of differences. Instead, destinations in Asia and America are becoming more sought after. But ultimately, it’s somewhat reassuring for Europe to find that for the European young people of today, who come from leading higher education institutions, Europe is seen as a comfort zone, and an environment which is almost “domestic”.
