Background and objectives:
RMC’s vision is to be among the world's leading educational institutions in rhythmic contemporary music, and to train graduates who will create music and musical experiences that enrich and enthuse. We believe that internationalisation is one the important means to achieve our goals.
Therefore, we at RMC wish to offer our students and staff the possibility to visit or study at foreign institutions to achieve experiences, expertise and inspiration from abroad within their field of work. As a consequence of this we are also partners in two joint study programmes containing compulsory exchange semesters.
Number and profile of participants:
The participants in our SMS-P mobilities (students) as well as STA-P (staff) was a part of our international Master Programmes while the participants in our SMP-P mobilities were Music Management students.
3 students were studying at our Master Programme "European Jazz Master", which is operated jointly with leading music academies in Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam and Trondheim.
3 students were studying at our Master Programme "Nordic Master - The Composing Musician", operated by RMC in partnership with the Norwegian Academy of Music, Oslo, and the Academy of Music and Drama, Gothenburg.
2 students were studying at our Bachelor Programme "Music Management".
3 teachers participating in the STA-P mobility were taking part in the joint study programmes.
Benefits:
The students at our joint study programmes benefit greatly from their studies at our international partner institutions. It is our clear impression - verified by their reports - that they come back with new inspiration, knowledge of other culture, new abilities to adapt, a great network for future professional career, new colleagues etc.
Also, as for the participating Music Management students it is an important part of their education that they can do their traineeships abroad.
Long term benefits:
International network is essential when being a musician and music manager. Many of the students maintain the contact with the collegues they met during their mobilities and some of them end up having employment in the country of the receiving institution.
