The Participation of EHESS to the Erasmus+ program contributes to strengthen the international dimension of the school: numerous research programs, including scholar mobility are set up throughout the year with international partners. The countries of origin of our students and staff show the international attractiveness of our institution: 45.3% of our students (registered in 2014/2015) come from abroad. European Union is the first represented area of those students: Italy, Germany, Romania and Turkey are among the 10 nationalities the most represented at EHESS. It’s quite usual for the incoming students to ask a for a registration or the setting-up of a cotutelle (joint supervision of Phd students) the year following their mobility period. Even if the ‘cotutelles’ are individual agreements, the existence of an Erasmus+ agreement facilitates the setting-up of this type of cooperation: 49.3% of the cotutelle were concluded in 2013-2014 with European universities.
The internationalization of the teaching activities is supported by the creation of international joint degrees as the Master TEMA (Erasmus Mundus) or the franco-german programs (University of Heidelberg, Doctoral College with the Humboldt of Berlin), and the international seminars (as East European workshops).
A special attention is provided to the incoming and outgoing students, and a global reflection is run continuously to improve the support and the management of international mobilities.
The main activities of EHESS in the Erasmus +program are mobility for studies (Master/Phd) and teaching mobility. Teaching mobility shows continuous increases of request (incoming and outgoing) and enables us to reinforce our scientific cooperation abroad and contributes to setting it on a sustainable path. Most of our Erasmus+ partnerships are long term projects (annual incoming and outgoing flows with the University of Warsaw and Catania, expansion of our long time relationships with East European Institutions). Every year, EHESS supports more than 200 invitations for visiting professors.
The Erasmus+ program contributes widely to the international outreach of EHESS. A deep process of reflection is run at the EHESS to better integrate Erasmus+ opportunities in order to support its international activities.
