The project could be successfully implemented to a very large extent. It is a first part of the continuous development process of internationalisation as laid down in Ostfalia’s European Policy Statement. On the path of modernisation the basic principles of equal opportunities for men and women and of non-discrimination have been observed.
The realised activities have contributed to strengthening and intensifying subject-specific university cooperation. They have been strenghtened even in those fields which are only reflected on a small scale by the realised mobility activities (see below). Various cooperation activities and the exchange of ideas and perspectives between some of Ostfalia’s departments have been triggered off by the project when departments shared contacts and ideas of partner faculties abroad with those faculties within Ostfalia whose adressed professional fields overlapped and supplemented each other. This basically created more intensive internal cross-links and possibly facilitated positive long-term effects.
The allotted quota for student mobility could be exceeded by 5%, despite strong „competition" from non-European destinations for students‘ credit mobility. The share of female participants reached 66% of the total number of outgoing students.
The allotted quota for staff mobility for training purposes has also been exceeded. This effect will be further strengthened by a recently passed university guideline for staff mobility for training purposes within Erasmus+, which will further dissemination and recognition of staff mobility.
Despite the lower figure of teaching mobility activities more intensive and (on average) exchanges with a longer duration could be realised. Moreover, they created possibilities for spin-off-effects and synergies; these could be utilised for European activities of short duration which are very popular with students and ideally fit into their agendas. Even though they can not be depicted in the framework of this report, we could name field trips, international weeks and summer universities as well as multinational workshops with students and staff from Ostfalia and her Erasmus partner universities. These activities, which have been funded from university sources, enable students to gain first-hand European experience on a small scale; in many cases they are also delivered as internationalisation at home. This is supplemented by a wide variety of courses for learning modern languages.
In the administrative field transparent processes for selecting participants have been strengthened in their impact. Regarding the recognition and crediting of learning outcomes good progress was made by implementing the criteria of the Lisbon convention. Other administrative structures regarding information on the programme and supporting incoming and outgoing mobility could be structured more efficiently.
All participants were completely satisfied with the mobility and their outcomes. Quotas for outgoing mobility figures could mainly be exceeded. Based on the mobilities in the fields of teaching and learning and their spin-off-effects, activities for a subject-specific cross-linking and creation of networks of research activities could be kicked off. A partner network, which could be extended during the project, puts Ostfalia into a position to link up with selected partner institutions according to her European Policy Statement, thus creating maximum synergies between partners, and enabling them to participate in research funding and creating innovation in teaching.
