Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 2, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

In general, we may conclude that our project was carried out in primordial form, exceeding by far the number of mobility grants awarded (3 SMS, 1 SMT, 1 SM, 1 ST). Our project within the Erasmus + Programme has achieved over 4 student mobilities (2 SMT and 2 SMS) in addition to the awarded, thereby demonstrating the primacy in the overall management of the awarded budget by sending and contemplating more funded students than those foreseen. This fact justifies the correct strategy adopted by our Institution, concerning the increasement of mobility flows, dynamics and funds. The staff mobility is also fundamental, and we definately intend to increase it thereby to allow a greater dynamic and involvement of our teaching and non-teaching staff in this European project. However, due to the number of mobility grants awarded to our institution, we have chosen, as part of our internal policy, to prioritize the students mobility over the staff. At this phase of our international project it is crucial to give more visibility and enhance the experiences of our students, in order to increase the number of student interested in increasement of their skills, open up to other horizons and enhance their knowledge. Nevertheless, we could still assign 2 mobility grants that were awarded to staff (SM / ST).The participants profile is diverse, as well as their true intentions to perform the Erasmus+ mobility. Many are seeking for new experience, to enrich their curriculum, to foster a possibility of change of country and perhaps, to find a future workplace. As for the staff, these are seeking to create a new partnerships, international consortia in order to carry out a joint research. The language skills improvement is also one of the factors that leads the participants to undertake the mobility. The mobilities of this project were held in two different countries, Spain and Lithuania. During these two years of project execution and management, we received around 58 inbound participants (both students and staff) coming from the most diverse institutions. The Erasmus+ programme is extremely important for our institution, since it is located in a city in the countryside of Portugal as such the opportunities are reduced in comparison to other contexts. In order to raise new key issues such as equal rights, territorial balance, equal opportunities, access to higher education, we have an even more rewarding mission which is unique and engages with the community. In addition to quality education we develop through Erasmus+ programme, we open doors to Europe to our students and staff. It is essential for the region which we are located in, to "provide" the staff with international and innovative experiences, so that companies in the region could get the best out of them and their acquired knowledge. As for the benefits and added values, these are numerous due to various undertaken mobilities as well as students and staff we have received. It is importante to highlight the cultural potential, the knowledge and know-how, the various partnerships between teachers with the aim to carry out joint research, the true potentiation of the students curriculum, the potential to create consortia for new projects or joint master's degrees. The contacts between teaching staff, the lectures and activity performed, create new behaviors, open horizons for new teaching and learning methods and are fundamental for the new challenges that European Higher Education faces. In order to develop its scientific and educational project and internationalization, it is also important to note, that in addition to the Erasmus + Programme our Instituion has established a number of institutional relations with other HEIs out of European Union in addition : Memorandum of Understanding signed with University of Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and European College of Kosovo (Kosovo). In summary, the results achieved in our project are revealing that our institution needs and has enhanced the most out of Erasmus + programme, as it is the most importante instrument for implementation of our institution internationalization strategy.
