High five EVS
Start date: Jan 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

“High five EVS” project involves 5 volunteers: 1 from Spain, 1 from Portugal, 1 from Italy, 1 from Romania and 1 from Bulgaria. They will work with children for Catholic Culture Centre “Wiatrak” and “Pod sosnami” kindergarten; with the disabled in Occupational Therapy Workshops “Wiatrak”; in the PR department of “Wiatrak” and on coordinating international projects. All volunteers will come for a long-term voluntary service lasting 12 months, the aim of which is twofold.First, the volunteers are to present diverse culture of Europe by presenting their country. Second, they are to instil a sense of belonging to European community into participants of their activities. The volunteers will acquaint children, youth, the disabled and other participants with the history, geography and culture of their countries. In the project, we put emphasis on volunteers' social work for the local society, especially for children, youth and the disabled. What is also important for us during the fulfilment of the tasks are innovation and creativity. We also expect the volunteers to implement new ideas aside the assigned tasks. For each volunteer, we wish to create conditions in which they will pursue their hobbies and develop their skills that will bring positive results in their personal, social and professional life.As part of the project, we plan to conduct many interactive meetings during which the volunteers will promote the idea of voluntary service and spread cultural diversity and European citizenship. The outcome of the project will be personal growth, development of skills and knowledge about the culture and languages and fighting stereotypes related to foreigners. Knowledge about the European Union and “Erasmus+” programme and the feeling of affiliation with the EU will be deepened in the local society. We hope that all participants taking part in activities conducted by the volunteers will feel that they are not only Polish but also a part of a larger community, which is the European Union.
