Healthier steps through Europe
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Jul 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project is a multilateral youth exchange between the three countries , Iceland, Spain and Sweden . 14 youngsters and two leaders from each country will meet over a two year period. The topic we want to discuss is the health , wellbeing and inclusion. This project is inspired by the needs that exist in our social environment . The project will lead to reduce unhealty lifestyle for youngsters. We believe that good health and wellbeing, will lead to increase tolerance to fellow man. In the subareas we work in, we see that the gaps between people is increasing, unemployment is high , school results are poor and xenophobic parties are growing in society. By learning about their own health , wellbeing and cooperation , it will lead to a better understanding for themself , and other people and cultures. We want to see if the experiences and knowledge they learn through exchanges may counteract xenophobia and mental and physical illness . This is in line with the priorities of the Erasmus + Specific to the health and wellbeing of young people. We want to promote an active life in which young people make healthy life choices and reduce health disparities . This is important for all of Europe. The project's objectives are designed to : To increase young people's awareness of how they can influence their lives by exploring and reflecting on what a good health is for them. We want to get young people to think about how their view of their fellow human beings are, and to make them aware that we all carry biases. In order to increase tolerance between each other , we must first work on our own values in order to later make changes in our attitudes. We also want to educate young people by being actively involved with major influence in all project components. At an overall level, we see that the project will increase young people's expertise and skills, promote active participation , intercultural dialogue and social inclusion. Youth should be given opportunities to improve their skills and here we see that it is done well linguistically but also throughout the learning process when the young are constantly participating . Through this project the young active citizens conducting intercultural dialogues and thereby increase their intercultural competence and understanding. They get a greater sense of being Europeans and for what the EU does . These priorities and objectives are clearly linked to EU priorities and the EU's growth strategy. Working methods : workshops, seminars , field trips, getting to know exercises , games, adventure education, values clarification , discussion groups, information retrieval on the web , evaluation , youth passes, discussion groups , presentations, film making. Youth will gain more self-confidence and self-awareness . They will get lessons about other people and themselves. We will put toghether information from the experiences and methods that we used earlier in the exchanges in an " information kit " that young people will use in various information sessions and groups. We leaders will use the material in our organizations . Youth will gain more self-confidence and self-awareness . They will also get awerness about other people, different cultures and EU. With the experience and knowledge they received , they will feel like part of Europe. When they practice another language in different exercises, presentations and more, they will be able to lead other youngsters. After the project they will disseminate their knowledge on health and tolerance , and the EU. We offer young people continue to engage internationally through programs through Erasmus + or as a volunteer.
