The project “Hand to Hand” has emerged from a desire of French and Moldovan partners to provide young people with a chance to acquire new knowledge and skills in a creative and non-formal way, to show them that their action can make a difference and encourage them to start a new European dialog, across different sociocultural contexts and age groups. We will accompany young French volunteers in their 6 to 12 months EVS missions in Moldova, in organizations dealing with youth and children in need, protection of street dogs, human rights protection and art and culture. The volunteers will be in daily contact with people from different social backgrounds, struggling with different types of difficulties. During their mission, plenty of various learning opportunities will be offered to them.This EVS will change the way the volunteers think of themselves and of others and will help them develop their autonomy. They will acquire and/or improve their organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and will get some knowledge of Romanian, Russian and English. They will learn to cope with unknown situations and will gain confidence. The volunteers will also acquire an ability to work within an international environment, develop their creativity and their awareness of EU citizenship, and their understanding of the importance of cooperation and partnership will be increased.Thanks to large scale dissemination activities, young people in France and Moldova will become aware of the fact that their voice is powerful and that their action can make a difference. They will be more aware of the opportunities that they can seize, will be encouraged to make similar journeys outside of their comfort zone, like the one they are doing in this project, and will understand the role the EU plays in this process.The activities of the project will help develop a sense of solidarity, respect and tolerance among young people. They will be well aware of the fact that these values are to be applied across all age groups and are not limited by any political, cultural or social border. In this sense the project will foster social cohesion in the European Union and the Eastear European countries, and will contribute to fostering an exchange of experience between young people from those countries.
