The H.E.LE.N project focuses upon non-academic, post-secondary education and training, which is recognised as a key strategic element for future European development of the knowledge-based economy, centered on human resources. The project aims to promote the mobility of European citizens, both for labour and educational purposes, by improving transparency in the definition of qualifications and skills; to contributing to the establishment of a transnational network enabling the sharing and comparison of objectives, results and methodologies and to favour mutual co-operation amongst a range of VET actors. A transversal objective of the project is the design and implementation of a virtual community, which will allow other actors to be involved in the network during project implementation. The project addresses a wide range of actors, to include education and training bodies, social partners, students and employed professionals in addition to companies in the fields of ICT, tourism and footwear. Dissemination activities will rely upon the publication of a regular project newsletter; the hosting of conferences and workshops at regional, national and European level and the establishment of a dedicated project website.
