The purpose of the mobility programme for Gustav Adolf Grammar School teachers is to ensure professional growth through subject-based training and acquaintance with the best European experiences.
One of the main strategic purposes and school-development aims is ensuring a better learning and working environment by enhancing the abilities of the teachers. Another goal is to integrate new teaching methods and technology with teaching all subjects. With the 2014 mobility project Gustav Adolf Grammar School would like to focus on training foreign language and science teachers, thus developing the science-humanitarian specialisation.
We are hoping to develop the competences of those teachers so that they would be able to, more efficiently, teach using the newest technological means, teaching methods and also make the subjects more interesting and authentic and therefore creating a stronger resemblance to the students’ everyday life. Three science teachers (chemistry, geography and biology), two English teachers and one Physical Education teacher, who consider innovation and development an important part of their jobs, would like to learn from the experiences of others and also share their own experiences with colleagues.
The participants of the mobility project have the support of the school’s management and the courses have been chosen in collaboration with the teachers and the heads of departments, thus meet the requirements of the teachers and comply with the aims the school has set for the year.
The larger role Gustav Adolf Grammar School’s teachers assume in the collaboration networks of European teachers and the continual development of curricula which adhere to European trends enables our school to have sustainable specialities and meet the expectations of society.
Gustav Adolf Grammar School, in collaboration with Gustav Adolf Training Centre, has been organising seminars and conferences during which teachers participating in the mobility project share their experiences, ideas, discuss the integration of technology and new teaching methods as well as the development of the students’ digital competences with the teachers of the Estonian Republic and everyone interested in education.
