PROJECT
FINISHED
In the wake of the upcoming curricular change regarding elementary education, Matija Gubec primary school seeks to use all of its available human resources to successfully implement all of the changes that contribute to quality of education, as well as satisfaction and success of our students. Regarding the fact that we could not encompass all of our staff in this mobility project, the mobility team has covered individuals who have expressed a heightened need for skills perfection, as well as individuals who are willing to spread the acquired knowledge within their working environment by way of dissemination. Eight of our staff are taking part in this project: the school principal (Structured Study Visit to Schools/Institutes & Training Seminar in Finland), English teacher in grades 5-8(Using ICT to facilitate new developments in teaching and learning, Great Britain), music teacher (Creativity in Teaching and Training & How to Use Music, Art, ICT and sport in education, Netherlands), geography teacher (Diverse Society-Diverse Classroom Student's Diversity Benefitting social diversity, Iceland), English teacher grades 1-4 (learn how to create an e-learning platform and a website in one week, Italy), Italian teacher (Corso Per Insegnati di Italiano Come Lingua Straniera,Italy), afternoon care teacher (Multisensory Learning,Romania) and the school's social pedagogue (The Action of the Resource Centers for Inclusion in the Process of Inclusive Education, Portugal). This being the first of our school's mobility projects in the Erasmus+ program we considered it would be necessary to cover not only the needs of the individuals, but also the needs of other school employees with the results of the project and by dissemination. Therefore we have applied to three topics: education for the use of ICT (in teaching, but also for mutual communication between teachers, school associates and the school principal, as well as communication with parents), intercultural education as a distinctiveness of our school, and inclusion of pupils with diversity conditioned by upbringing, educational, social, economic, cultural, religious and/or lingual factors. Before applying this project to the Erasmus+ program, a questionnaire was made which filtered the needs of schools' employees for professional development. eTwinning project was designed, which is in the process of placement on the eTwinning platform, and in search for partnerships. The general idea of our eTwinning project is to research our partner countries' cultures, with the purpose of promoting tolerance and intercultural dialogue. A mobility team and a committee for the selection of candidates had been formed, who then raised a public call for participation in the mobility program. Next we selected the candidates who would partake in the project and then supplement the required documentation for our application, after which we applied for the grant. During our mobility project, our experiences and what we have learned will be published in the Erasmus+ corner in the school, on our school's website and on the school's radio. In this way, the contents our experiences and competences acquired in our mobilities, will be disseminated to the school employees who were not directly involved in the mobility project. When the courses finish, the participants of the project will conduct the dissemination process (presentations, Skype, media etc.) within the school and beyond. The goal of this project is to enable the participants to acquire and enrich their competences in the field of ICT, so they would be more successful in teaching educational content. Furthermore, by the use of ICT, we wish to enhance mutual communication of our staff for the purpose of greater efficiency and quality in the field of educational work. We aim to acquire and upgrade our competences for inclusion of pupils with diversity conditioned by upbringing, educational, social, economic, cultural, religious and/or lingual factors. We wish to accomplish the strengthening of the mentioned competences so the students would feel more included, and thus more successful and satisfied (ex. we will create individual programs; make written plans for children's institutional transition; use knowledge of multisensory teaching; connect the experiences of creative learning methods, exercises and teaching tools; use intercultural dialogue etc.). Aditionally the goal in the intercultural education area is gaining better knowledge of the specifics of different cultures and languages, so we could better understand and include pupils from different countries into our school's educational process. We encourage tolerance and strive to create an environment in which all of the participants of the school's educational life would be successfully satisfied with their personal and educational needs. We aim towards implementation of methods and strategies which have been proven as an example of good practice in European school systems.
