"Growing up together" (GUT) is an EVS project coordinated by InCo, where international volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in the activities of 5 different HO: 3 in Italy- “Villaggio SOS di Roma” (in the city of Rome), “Villaggio SOS di Saronno” (Saronno), “Villaggio SOS di Vicenza” (Vicenza); besides 1 in Brazil (“Associação São Francisco de Assis Gewo-Haus”, in the city of Ribeirão Preto) and 1 in Kenya (“ Welcome to the Family”, in Nakuru).There are 3 different EVS Activities: one in Brazil, the second one in Kenya and the last one related with the SOS-Villages in Italy (seen that the volunteer will perform the same kind of activity during the same period, in very similar structures). Volunteers will be stimulated to be in contact with each other and share experiences. The 10 volunteers included in this project should be from Italy, UK, Slovakia, Austria, Russia and Portugal, enjoying from this experience during a long term period (11-12 months). The volunteers will support the staff of the respective HOs in their work with the children and youngsters who are facing different levels of social difficulties and exclusion. They will collaborate with the everyday-life activities (e.g. supporting lunch time, picking children up from the school, household activities, etc) and organizing and developing educational and specially free-time activities (games, sports, music workshops, painting, etc). That’s the reason why the themes involved are children and youth leisure. Volunteers will be stimulated to contribute with their own ideas and culture. We expect that volunteers, children, teenagers and local community have the chance to learn from each other, GROWING UP TOGETHER!!!
