CVO VIVO wants to offer a variety of outstanding courses in a social way. An open sphere with space for diversity, flexibility, active lifelong learning and a maximum of return in line with personal and/or professional goals are key concepts in the vision of the center. To be able to keep on realizing her mission in our society which changes so quickly and becomes more and more multicultural, reflection and innovation are important driving sources in the CVO. This project is completely in line with all of that: an international mobility obliges you to act, to reflect, to correct and tot react again (Van Heule, 2013). We connect a number of operational goals to our international projects, that can be situated broad at the level of the center as well as more concrete at the level of two courses that are organized by the CVO, namely the teacher training program (‘Specifieke Lerarenopleiding’ or abbreviated SLO in Dutch) and second-chance education (‘Tweedekansonderwijs’ or TKO). At the level of the center on the one hand we want to especially invest in the development of the quality development. On the other hand, we want to create sufficient support in the entire team in order to achieve maximum implementation opportunities and return, both at organizational level and at the level of the individual competence development. We hope for both objectives to learn about new ideas and strategies by exchanging experiences with foreign colleagues. The Finnish teacher education program plays an important role in the way in which Finland climbed upwards in education rankings (Beyers, 2013). The goal of our teacher training program for SLO is to ask about, to observe, to do research on the critical success factors of the Finnish teacher training program, with the aim to implement transferable factors in the own education practice. Our focus is here especially on selection and collaborate with all stakeholders. Finally there is of course the translation for our candidate-teachers: through the project we want ‘to bring more of the world in the curriculum’ (Van Heule, 2013). With regard to second-chance education, the opportunities lie especially in checking how we through the promotion of understanding of the different aspects of diversity in education, will be able to create equality and high quality of education for all students. This to reinforce the own goal namely to repulse unqualified outflow and lift up participation in higher education as well as on the labour market. To conclude, the goal of the project is also to maintain the contacts that we made through the projects because of programs for exchange in the long term, not only with the focus on our center itself but also outside of it (for example the partnerships that VIVO has on several matters). To reach the above-mentioned goals, we want to introduce – during the run-time of 2 years – 3 mixed teams of 4 persons (management, staf en teachers out of the two courses we mentioned) to international education systems, -policy and practice. We can rely for this on the expertise of a course provider that will organize structured courses and study visits for us. Through conversations with diverse stakeholders from a variety of institutions on the spot, we will search for answers on our learning questions. Naturally, this will ask a serious preparation for all participants in advance, as well as assimilation, implementation, reflection and evaluation afterwards. On behalf of this whole process of collecting and handling information and (international) communication, we will use above all the most efficient digital means for these purposes, namely (a) share point(s), social media and on EPALE (E-Twinning). We are convinced that the realization of these projects can meet the needs of our center. Such international projects in which all participants open up new horizons, make international contacts and obtain new competences out of good practices, surely will mean a starting point of a number of new initiatives that will elevate the quality of the achievements of the center and its courses. So, with the team also our students will be benefiting of this initiative in their CVO that directs its efforts to the education of world citizens for today and tomorrow. References: Beyers, W.
