In recent years, we have been noticing that green public spaces are under pressure in Porto. We are willing to give life back to them, especially the LAPA playground, for the use of the people of the community. By involving local elderly people, youth with less opportunities, European young people from different countries, associations and local institutions, we wish to identify abandoned green public spaces (kindergarten, playground and so on), and through communication with the community develop workshops and events linked to our philosophy. The project will have the participation of an Italian volunteer who wish to improve inter-cultural, language skills and ecological awareness. The volunteer will have several tasks and will always be working with people of Casa da Horta and the local community. Ranging from workshops to various events (using non-formal education), the volunteer will take part of different activities such as: gardening, cooking, communicating with community, arranging new collaboration and partnership, advertising and developing events. With this project, we wish to bring our on-going activities (recycling workshop, languages exchanges groups, debates, organic gardening) outside the walls of our association in order to bring our activities to a broader community for more social inclusion. We also wish to promote and make available information about vegetarianism through different format (website, flyers). In the long term, we hope that by revitalizing abandoned green public spaces with different events and activities, our project will help in creating healthier community with more informed and "active eco -European citizen".
