Both parks have been previously involved in cross-border partnerships in different programming periods, allowing to introduce best practices in the preservation of protected species and in enhancing the Alps’ biodiversity. Compared to previous cross-border co-operations, the fact that the two parks are not in close proximity of each other is extremely relevant in terms of the diversity of the two territorial contexts of cooperation: whilst most of the PNGP is private or community owned (allowing broader margins for management and development), the PNS area is national property. The possibility of finding common monitoring, analysis and evaluation activities will therefore bring to important scientific results leading to the definition of sustainable joint actions in the long term.
