Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Innovative Secondary School of Budapest took part individually for the first time in an Erasmus+ application with the title „Gourmet tour of German/Greek culinary culture”. We wish to internationalize and open towards Europe. The project resulted in a shift of approach concerning both the management and the teaching staff. Our school trained 554 students of 20 professions in the school year 2014/2015. During the application 17 students were sent to do their internship: 4 students of the year 13 of hospitality, four students of the year 13 of tourism, one student of year 14 of tourism went to Germany. Eight students of the year of 13 went to Greece from the majors of tourism and hopitality. In Dresden and Berlin , Germany, five students did their internship in Park Plaza 4* hotels from 15.07.2015. to 22.08.2015. Four students took part in restaurant internship In Osterode from 15.07.2015. to 22.08.2015. Further contacts have been made with the BBS II. Vocational School in Osterode which is the regional competence centre of the dual training in the Harz mountain. This school has a high number of students of several professions. At present we are working on building an international school partnership programme. In Gennadi, Rhodos eight students took part in a 3* hotel internship for six weeks in two turns from 11.06.2015. to 27.08.2015. The students were escorted to all the three locations by teachers and the manager and the deputyanafer of the school took a monitoring visit. The current application assisted the mobility of our students of hospitality, gastronomy and tourism. During the internship the students had the opportunity to learn the characteristics of the Greek and the German cuisine. They learnt new dishes, recepies from the chefs. They made suflaki, mussaka, tzaziki, Greek salad, omlettes in the open-view kitchen. During serving they worked regarding the local practice. Students working at the reception could do the entire administrative work, handling the register, billing and doing arrangements for the customers, learning a foreign hotel registration system. In Germany they worked in three different places: hotel restaurant, old people’s home, and a first-rate restaurant. They learnt the vegan cuisine in Röddenberg hotel, in the „Burgholte” old people’s home the students learnt how to create special diets. The third place was Ratskeller for our two students. They tried everything from helping to cooking in the kitchen. The Hungarian Goulash was made and served by two trainees. In the chain of Plaza Park 4* they learnt the German culture of work and had the opportunity to learn the German event organizing as exhibitions were held there at that time. The learning results which were collocated according to the ECVET were nearly in accordance with the plan. The plan was fully completed, some deviations were due to the fact that the real workplaces could provide more extra knowledge, than the school milieu. The long-term effect of the project was to promote the understanding of different cultures, how to learn adoption and how to get rid of prejudice, to arouse emphaty while learning the intercultural cooperation on an institutional level. The Erasmus+ internship also provides the students with taking on jobs in the EU. The fulfilled student exchange programmes enabled our students to create their own view of accepting Europe and to wish to learn foreign cultures. In our present project we tested our ECVET tools which we wish to introduce on a large scale and long term. We intend to integrate more and more professions into the mobility and to keep in touch with the current partners. Our main objective is a long term operation of the future partnership programme. We are planning to host the School of the BBS II. Osterode Regional Vocational Centre from 13.09.2016. to 16.09.2016. when we foreseenably will sign a school partnership agreement including teacher exchange programmes and school material developing and teaching methods.
