Go Re-Educate Earth Now
Natural resources have been reached the point of running out in Europe. The number of natural disasters has been increased. The continued increase of carbon dioxide emission caused by vehicles and houses and waste have been increased by 10 % every year. The carbon dioxide emissions of Turkey between 1990-2004 increased up to 72,6 %. The ecological balance has been distributed by global warming and climate change, the food chain has almost disrupted; many species are in danger of extinction. We, six schools from different countries, came together and prepared a project which aimed at letting students and their families become responsible citizens, sensitive to environmental problems. The project focused not only on the problem of global warming and climate change in general, but also on the risks and consequences that soil, air and water pollution could have on the environment. The core of the project was the identification of the main forms of pollution in our living area: Each school collected information about their local area on environmental problems, created interviews, questionnaires, posters, brochures, slide show presentations, some contests which was about environmental problems and so on. We wanted to make people re-think about the environmental problems showing them some photos and results of some search. We worked on five subtitles; the pollution, recycling, non-polluting technology, global warming and food chain (habitat). Our project aimed revealing the students and their families how we pollute the earth, why we should recycle and use non-polluting technologies, why global warming takes place and food chain has been broken, and the results of being broken food chain.
