Go International 2016Project background and objectivesThe AHS Rahlgasse intends to link the present project with the process successfully launched two years ago: QIR (Quality development and Internationalization Rahlgasse; Go International 2015). We are planning to expand international contacts and to benefit strategically in terms of quality development alongside our school focus areas Gender - Environment - Social awareness. We want to improve the competence of the teachers involved in terms of content, teaching methods and planning and to ensure that the development of international contacts and the interconnection of the aforementioned three school focus areas can be more successful at levels of organization, content and didactics. We pursue two specific objectives with this project:1) Structural and qualitative validation of internationalization at school (through professional development and networking)2) Thematic training (internationalisation, languages, use of ICT in teaching and learning, history didactics, new forms of learning)ParticipantsThe target group for the chosen activities are teachers of different subject groups: Languages, History and Citizenship education, Science, but also teachers who have come together in the course of last year’s task group Internationalization ("AGInt"). The participants are involved in the AGInt and are willing to actively participate in quality development and internationalization measures. Total number of participants: 7ActivitiesThree specific activities (A - B - C) are planned:A: Training for international coordinators and members of the working group internationalisation (AGInt): Participation of four people in the international conference "Practical Pedagogies - Creativity - Internationalism and Innovation in the classroom"B: Participation in the "24th EUROCLIO Annual Conference" - Professional Development Training Course. The conference focuses on current developments in History and Citizenship Education.C: "Pedagogical residence/ Job Shadowing" in FinlandParticipation of one teacher in the Mobility programme of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education. Results, effects, long-term benefitsWe expect qualitative and quantitative input for teaching and learning, intensified international co-operation activities with an impact on school development.Learning outcomes will have a qualitiy impact on classroom teaching, not only of the teachers directly involved but also of the respective subject groups, since the project participants will act as multipliers. The teachers active in the AGInt will be able to further develop their competences (intercultural, methodological, project development) through participating in the project activities. This enables them to actively and professionally contribute to future cooperation projects and exchange programmes. The school's internationalization efforts are structurally well embedded: there is a working group (AGInt) to develop and support international activities. The AGInt is represented in the school development team, in addition there is a responsible coordinating teacher. Therefore, evaluation of experience and development of activities take place in a structured process involving all relevant actors. Results of this project "Go International 2016" will be included in future development plans. Medium-term objectives include further expansion of school partnerships involving international exchange of students in order to increase intercultural sensitivity and to contribute to European citizenship education. All in all we aim at qualitative stimuli for future international cooperation and quality development at school level resulting in enhancement of teaching and learning in the classrooms. With the present proposal, we want to secure and guarantee the development process started last year. At the same time we want to think ahead and promote a sustainable, long term process towards quality internationalization of our school.
