Project "GO GREEN, THERE IS NO PLAN(ET) B" is an environmental project is going to take place in Southern Estonia from 23rd to 30th of September 2016 and it will bring together 30 youngsters from 6 European countries: Estonia, Latvia, France, Greece, Serbia and Denmark. This youth exchange addresses the increasing problem of waste in the EU. This project aims to raise awareness in young Europeans about the different kinds of waste, consumer waste impact on environment and the importance of reducing it by sharing innovative ideas. At the end of this exchange participants are going to create a brochure which explain the problems which are addressed on the exchange and suggest ways to solve them. We have different objectives that we want to reach by doing this project but in our opinion the most important are to stimulate critical thinking skills about waste social and environmental consequences; provide practical information on the concept of being a critical consumer and information on sustainable choices, helping young European citizens to be conscious consumers; develop group work skills and stimulate intercultural dialogue between participants; develop organizational skills of participants and sense of entrepreneurship and of course improve foreign language skills through various thought-provoking activities.Project is gathering participants from countries with different level of life and from all parts of Europe so we could compare the importance of the problem in these countries and share good practices with each other. We are expecting to have participants who are interested in environmental topics and who are over 18 years old but not older than 25-26 years old. Half of our participants are going to be people with fewer opportunities due to cultural, economic or social differences. We are also expecting to have people representing national minorities in their countries. Before the main event we are going to have Advance Planning Visit which is going to take place from 2nd to 4th of September in Tartu and will bring together all the leaders on national groups. During these days we are going to discuss some organizational questions and we will also explain them the homework that each group is obliged to prepare. This is important because three thematic days of the programme are fully organized by participants and organizers and just giving the topics (1: Food Waste and biodegradable waste 2: Package waste 3: Energy and water waste) and examples of work that participants have to do. All the project is based on non-formal learning methods like name games, ice breaking games, team building activities, group works, brainstorming methods, discussions etc.As already mentioned, by the end of the project we are going to create a brochure that will explain the problem of different kinds of waste in Europe and suggest different ways how can each individual contribute to reducing it. These brochures will be distributed in schools, youth centers, universities, partner organizations and other places in participating countries. We expect this information to be spread amongst different people of all age, profession, nationality and beliefs because this problem is common for all of us.Youthpass will be an official recognition of the work that youngsters have done here and it will summarize all the skills and knowledge that participants have gained or improved on this exchange.
