Go Europe+
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Modern vocational training should include opportunities for transnational learning mobility. Practical experiences abroad empower people in different ways and at different levels. In addition to the acquisition of new professional skills, intercultural and language experiences can positively affect personality development and independent living. In times of inclusion disadvantaged target groups should not be excluded of this possibility. atempo is already ahead of its time and offers supported work placementsabroad for its participants for more than 10 years. The project Go Europe + enables people with learning difficulties and disabilities to complete an internship abroad. People with learning difficulties and disabilities are people who need more time in learning or can not do or learn certain things and therefore need assistance in learning and work. The aim is to provide the greatest possible rapprochement between the offer of the receiving organization and the specific needs and learning and career goals of the beneficiaries. For beneficiaries, this means an extension of their professional and personal experience. Our experience shows that a stay abroad promotes increased professional motivation among the target group as well as the opportunity to acquire competences that are not offered in Austria. Furthermore, the project will help to strengthen existing collaborations between atempo and the receiving organizations on the one hand, and on the other hand, to establish or acquire new contacts and internships in other organizations. A total of 10 individuals with learning difficulties and disabilities aged 15-25 years will become mobile and collect practical professional experience in 5 partner organizations in Germany, South Tyrol and England. They will make placements in working fields like office & administration, Information Technology, Catering & Tourism and food trade. The participants will travel in small groups (2-4 people). Depending on the degree of learning difficulties and disabilities or degree of need for assistance beneficiaries are supported by one or two supporters. We expect the following impacts: our trainees with disability will gain practical professional skills in the economic branches referred above, we will see positive effects on the personality of the participants such as more self confidence , increased independence in everyday life and increased mobility skills in general and in particular abroad and improvement of foreign language skills (in England). Furthermore, we expect an improvement in the quality and the volume of cooperation between the partner organisations. On the long run “Go Europe +” should contribute positively to the development of learning mobility of people with disabilities and their societal perception as equal learners that become mobile.
