The Agency "School in Europe" of the District Government of Soest is offering 20 vocational students of the districts vocational schools a four week internship in Plymouth, UK within the project "Go Abroad and Complete Your Skills II". Main focuses of the project are competences in foreign languages (Englisch) and the internship in a foreign company. Partner of the District Government of Soest is the Tellus Group in Plymouth, UK which is responsible for organizing housing, internships and overseeing the students during their internship period. The use of foreign languages is vital especially in the educational fields of business management and administration. That is why, the vocational training in business and administration "Höhere Handelsschule" has an emphasis on language training in two different foreign languages, one of them beeing Englisch. To promote learning of foreign languages, an internship in an Englisch company is considered to be very helpful and motivating. After the internship, the new aquired competences are validated by a third party with a certificate, which can be used to help with future work applications. Because of the work placement in a foreign company in a foreign country, social an language competences are improved, especially because of the new cultural insights. Thus, intercultural learning will also be a great part of the internship experience.
