The aim of the project is to create and transfer advanced knowledge on the EU’s role in the world through research and teaching, including through the mentoring of two young academics.The Chair will include SEVEN TEACHING ACTIVITIES: three existing courses, one newly reconceptualised course, and three new teaching activities (one course and two seminars). These will be taught through the case-study method which facilitates the development of problem-identification and problem-solving skills, oral discussion and debating skills, and written argumentation, thereby increasing critical thinking. They will be taught in an interdisciplinary manner and will be open to students of all disciplines. The Chair will host a number of EVENTS. It will organise a series of guest lectures that will be especially announced for judges, practising lawyers, civil servants, NGOs and the public. The Chair will also organise workshops on how to publish research in the field of EU law in top journals and with leading publishers.The Chair is committed to publishing new RESEARCH in its field, and will have three main research outputs. First, the Chair will publish an edited volume “Global Effects of EU Law” examining the effects of EU law on global trade, climate change governance, international subsidies and public procurement regimes, fundamental rights protection, migration, etc. Second, the Chair seeks to stimulate research by young academics. One early postdoctoral academic will conduct research on EU and global climate change rules and will author a book to be submitted to a leading publisher. A doctoral level junior colleague will write and publish a PhD dissertation on EU public procurement rules and their global effects. The OUTREACH and IMPACT of the Chair will be enhanced through the development of course websites and e-learning sites containing teaching materials and filmed guest lectures, an alumni network and mailing list, and TV reports prepared for Student TV.
