As an accredited European vocational college (awarded in 2010) it is our constant aspiration to increase the formal and non-formal competences of our apprentices and teachers in vocational education through the participation in projects conducted by the EU Commission. We are convinced that the growth of international experience correlates with our intercultural and vocational competences, thus with the professional expertise of all participants and their respective institutions. Together with our receiving partner organisations we research for improvements in working procedures, transparency and quality-assuring measurements on the basis of mutual understanding and recognition of learning outcomes. Through our continual networking with already trustworthy and new partner organisations we hope to obtain furtherleading, substancial knowhow for a strategic and sustainable school development. With this perspective we want to deepen and widen our European activities not just by offering further 70 apprentices of both school departments (nursery school teachers and business assistants, years 12 /13) 4-week work placements in Spain, UK, Ireland, France, Italy and the Czech Republic, but by sending 4 ones more ( year 14, those that gain the official recognition as an educator) 5 months to our partner nurseries in the Czech Republic and Italy. The latter work placements do both they provide our apprentices with long-term experience thus sustainable international competence as well as they strengthen our professional cooperation and social bonds with our reliable partners. In coping with the requirements of both working systems (ours and the foreign ones) mainly the apprentices - and yet also the staff involved - are promoted in finding their own identity, vocation and awareness of the various foundations and regulations of the vocational education systems and organisations involved. They will perceive a growth of communicative and intercultural competences and build up enough self-esteem and courage to compete on the international job market. We also apply internationally acknowledged instruments to control and display learning outcomes and qualifications of our apprentices. After a successful work placement abroad each trainee receives the Europass Mobility. Those who do an internship in Buttons Day Nursery Schools in England additionally take part in ECVET that we managed to establish with this partner in autumn 2014 und we want to develop further at our European Monitoring Meeting in Dec. 2016. In the medium term we would like to recrute more participants from our network in ECVET and embark into a national and europeanwide dialogue about our findings. Moreover 6 participants (2 headteachers, 3 administors of different vocational branches, 1 ERASMUS+ coodinator) are going to visit Savo Vocational College, Kuopio, Finland, in the following two years. They will learn and discuss about the introduction of innovative European credit point systems, improvements of teaching methods and inner differentiation, inclusion of disabled apprentices, European strategic school development / activities etc. The teachers are due to develop concrete ideas about these developing fields and be committed to a gradual transfer and realisation of their knowledge by spreading it in our school organs. We also intend to establish a cooperation with S.V.C concerning our COMENIUS-project (KA2) in the furture. Furthermore 7 teachers of the subjects education /pedagogy, history and arts, headteacher incl., will be sent to the further education facility Istoreco to attend a course on the well-known Reggio pre-school education concept in the region of Reggio Emilia, Italy. In the aftermath our college expects an enrichment and enlargement of early childhood teaching methods, enhanced by a lively interdisciplinary approach to topical projects at our college. The participants of this 5-day course are supposed to multiply their new ideas in their respective working fields and transport the positive notion of a humanitarian and community-oriented Europe into our college and region. On the whole, we are going to intensify our European activities and in doing this we and our partner organisations will acquire further important key skills in conducting prospective European projects. We hope that our future projects, European network and Human Resource Management will benefit significantly from the experience we gain.
