PROJECT ENVIRONMENT Women's Information Centre (WIC) is located in Tbilisi, Georgia. WIC office is situated in Marjanishvili, one of neighbourhoods in the old town of Tbilisi. It is almost in the centre of Tbilisi and has easy access to main public institutions, banks, hotels, etc. The volunteer will live not far from the city centre, so getting to the office will not take long. Local transportation is well developed here; buses, mini buses, metro, taxi - all are not very expensive means of transport. Tbilisi is diverse city from the point of view of people's origin, religion, culture, education, etc. People are friendly and helpful, especially to foreigners. There are numerous cafes, bars and restaurants near by the office with affordable prices for every category. Travel from Tbilisi to other cities is easy and cheap. Most of travel to project sites is done with WIC's staff vehicles. A usual day in WIC?s office begins at 9:30 o'clock. The working hours are till 5:30 o'clock. The lunch time is between 12:30 until 13:30. The volunteer work place will take place at WIC office and outside. The volunteer would have own desk and computer with continuous access to internet. She will work with a team of 12 full-time WIC staff, which is friendly, helpful, capable, and used to work with people from different countries/cultures. Volunteers will be involved during the implementation of different projects of WIC, thus enabling them to interact and integrate with the local community. WIC projects and activities are carried out in Tbilisi, as well as in rural areas. Therefore, the volunteer will have an opportunity to get in touch with the local culture and life style, problems, community development initiatives, etc. WIC will facilitate participation of volunteers in Georgian language courses. PROJECT ACTIVITIES AND GOALS The proposed activities for this project are focused on the gender equality, women?s rights nowadays and specifically in Georgian society, to anti discrimination for sexual condition, to stop the gender violence and sex trafficking. The volunteer will be involved in workshops and educational tours with students with who will discuss all the issues mentioned before. This project wants to create awareness and inform through a non formal language, the young Georgians about nowadays problems in terms of gender. Beside, the volunteer will cooperate in another projects and initiatives from other women?s NGOs link to the organization and will also attend to seminars and conferences in Tbilisi and other regions of Georgia. Through these proposals the volunteer will be able to create a cultural exchange between the communities and the local volunteers. Will also get to know the Georgian society and the problems in the cities and in the rural regions and contribute to an improvement through her ideas and initiatives. PROMOTION OF VOLUNTEERISM AND YOUTH IN ACTION The volunteer can help and contribute to all the issues regarding social marketing, website design, community management, video edition and spots. Here the volunteer can assess and create new ideas in order to improve and increase the impact of the project and the partners organizations. The volunteer will mainly focus on strategies to promote volunteering, to facilitate youth participation in local, national and international volunteering projects. This diffusion activity will be developed also in Universities, schools and youth centres, as a places were the target group may be interested in.
