FINISHED
Three sides of our country are surrounded with seas, 60% of the country population and 80% of the industry located in the coastland, so it is obvious that the marine is very important for our country. The education of the staff who will be employed in the main sector that have employment possibilities either in the country or abroad, is a matter requiring special attention.
Our consortium coordinator school Balikesir Ayvalik Pakmaya Kenan Kaptan Marine Anatolian Vocational High School and the consortium member schools Bitlis Tatvan Marine Anatolian Vocational School and Çanakkale Gelibolu Rigger Yakup Aksoy Marine Anatolian Vocational High School are the educational institutions aiming to prepare qualified staff for the world marine sector. However, since the number of the educational institutions on marine is very small and there is shortage of field of practice, so the education of the qualified personnel for the marine is disrupted. Our deckhouse simulator enables our students to learn the navigation in a best way in addition to evolution by improving their skills on commanding different type of ships in different scenarios of the busiest harbours, straits and narrow channels of the world. Therefore, it has a critical place for the preparation of the future master mariners. Since there is no suitable companies in the regions where the schools are located, our students achieve their company internships at 12th grade in the schools as "Skill Training in the Companies" theoretically. Since they are deprived of practical activities, the participants graduate without having required knowledge and skills in deckhouse simulator and proficiencies.
Based on that fact, our project aiming to establish the opportunity for our participant students to be employed in our country and other countries who have coasts, they will be gained required knowledge and skills and transfer to our country. Therefore, a project partnership with the institution that has a professional education on deckhouse simulator and marine with the latest technological equipment, was realized. The 2-week training will provide theoretical and practical training on deckhouse simulator.
The participant students will aimed to
• increase their knowledge on ship evolution and Deckhouse team management along with different scenarios,
• increase the possibility of being employed in the country or abroad,
• develop their skills of entrepreneurship, team work and social harmonization,
• increase their foreign language proficiency.
The participants will be prepared for the mobilization activities with the methods of introduction, expression and presentation during the occupational, social and cultural preparations within the scope of the project. In the internship activity of the mobilization activities; the methods of Statement, Show and Done, Presentation will be employed. The Introduction, Expression and Presentation methods will also be used to introduce our project to National Agency and European Union and to disseminate the project results. Our project will realize via management method, so our school will appoint a management team who will perform all the activities according to the management method.
As the qualifications of our students are increased, the quality of the Marine sector in our region will increase, as well. Additionally, the shareholders of the project will increase their institutional cooperation capabilities and have the capacity and experience of an international project.
The important effects on our project on the industry, institutions and participants will be an increase in interest on Marine and the number of the educational institutions in the field; implementation of the innovative applications in Europe in our institutions; increase in sectoral capacities of the participant institutions; having European consciousness of the participants in addition to higher self-confidence.
In the long run, we expect our project to graduate more qualified technical labour as a result of the higher professional capacities of the consortium member schools; increase the cooperation between Marine companies and high schools; increase in the interest in Marine in Marmara and East Anatolia regions; increase in the quality of Turkish Marine education.
The first flow within the frame of the project will be held between 21st of February, 2015 and 7th of March, 2015; the second will be between 4th and 18th of April, 2015 to “Staatliche Seefahrtschule Cuxhaven” in German city of Cuxhaven with 30 students and 3 attendant teachers. Each flow will be realized with 10 students and 1 companion teacher.
