"Against the Wall" is a new project that provides access to participatory processes through creative and artistic projects. In "Against the Wall" incorporated experience from the two big projects "participation" (2013) and "Phonehenge" (2014) will be formed into something new. 60 participants will, together with international artists, find a completely new and creative approach to the topic of "freedom" - a topic that in the face of current developments on the continent and in the world, is of immense importance! We are going to illuminate different aspects of freedom and ask fundamental questions that are important for the coexistence of people in an open European Society. The discussion of the topic is then transferred into an artistic and creative process. Graffiti, welding and experimental collages will be put on rotating "Pixel-Walls" developed and implemented by the "think europe" team. The young people will make an artistic process and depict the EU in their view - their creative positions and expressive messages, will draw Europe's attention. We will think about freedom and unfreedom and what the answers mean for our cultural, social and political life. The project is located in the interstices of non-formal political and cultural education and is a collaboration between the Europe House Marienberg, international partners from 5 European Countries and the Youth Art School in Altenkirchen. The project will be documented on the Internet in real time - a collaborative Blog (filled with visual data by every participant) will reflect impressions of creative dialogue (almost) in real time and invites everyone to be part of this process - also in great physical distance - to participate. In a total of 8 days, a wide repertoire of non-formal methodology will be used. Including a variety of methodologies that have been designed specifically for this project (digital and analogue). Ice-Breaking, Mobile Learning ActionScript Bound, digital media, such as Hackpad and Plague, rotating Pixel-Walls, Welding, Spray Painting, Collage, many evaluation tools, etc. The creative results will long be visible on the net and put online under a CC license so that it is ensured that all the methods and results from this project are free and can inspire other projects in this area.
