Gasztronómiai kalandozások Európában
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Fifteen students and two accompanying teachers –a professional trainer and a teacher- of Gárdonyi Géza Vocational School could spend 6 weeks internship -for the fourth time in Germany, from 20th June 2015 to 01st August 2015. Before the departure they had been prepared for the programme with the contribution of our teachers and professional trainers, taking into consideration the suggestions of the partner institution. The main parts of this preparation were mainly linguistic and professional, but historical and cultural tasks were involved as well; moreover the importance of team building was also emphasised. Leipzig is a colourful city with lively tourism where the students could gain professional experiences about international gastronomy and the local specialities as well. They had the chance to utilize their theoretical and practical knowledge. The employees of German catering industry are ethnically varied and it could decrease the prejudice of the students which is very typical for this age-group. Regarding the linguistic competences they had opportunities to practise and use English and German too. For the third time the partner organisation was the Wisamar Bildungsgesselschaft GmbH. The participants were chef, waiter and confectioner students who finished 10th and 11th class. Moreover this programme provided the opportunity for the new graduates to be among the participants after their vocational exam in May and June. The trainee places of chefs and waiters were catering institutions with high gastronomical level, located in the city centres. The confectioners could work in manufacturing plants which supply Leipzig and the settlements nearby with half ready and ready-made products. They could experience all the advantages and disadvantages of large industrial production and get an insight into bakery profession as bakery products were produced within this place. Not more than two students worked in a place but in different shifts, so their communication and self-determination improved a lot. They became more self-confident and their self-esteem has increased. With proper dissemination the popularity of these professions, the importance of foreign language knowledge and the positive judgement about professional and pedagogical work of the school can be enlarged. The successful project contributed for the training of the professionals with marketable and up-to-date knowledge who can stand their ground in our country and abroad as well.
