„Catering and Hotel Industry in the Mediterranean Sea Countries – competence, inventiveness, multiculturalism” is a project by Zespół Szkół Ekonomiczno-Usługowych in Rybnik.In order to fulfil this project we have chosen three reliable and trustworthy partners we have been cooperating with for many years. These are the following ones: TOPI Hotel School in Saragossa in Spain, Hotel Secondary School in Mazamet in France and Srednja Skola in Biograd na Moru in Croatia. Every organisation receiving our students has its own interesting and effective working methods. On the basis on our previous projects we are sure that our students will complete their apprenticeship on a very high level in four and five-star hotels as well as restaurants. Moreover, students have a possibility to work with the specialist equipment. Catering skills gained during apprenticeship in TOPI Hotel School restaurant, French restaurants of Midi-Pyrenees region and Adria and Pinja Hotels develop our students’ skills and qualifications significantly. The schools we cooperate with in Spain, France and Croatia emphasize creativity very much and their teachers encourage their students to search for some new aesthetic and taste connections.Three groups of the third grade students will take part in the project. The first group will consist of twelve students: six hoteliers and six food and catering industry technicians will go to Spain, the second one which is also of twelve students: food and catering industry technicians will go to Croatia, and finally the third one will go to France: two hoteliers and four food and catering industry technicians. Our students come from some small towns so going abroad is a big chance to get familiar with some new ways of working, foreign culture as well as foreign language practice. We have put emphasis on a language preparation as far as working in a foreign country is concerned. A good command of a foreign language is a key matter to achieve planned goals especially as for French and Spanish languages – students learn one or two hours a week. After finishing a course the students will be obliged to write a test in order to check their language level. They will also participate in the cultural and pedagogical courses.Sending organisation provides with all the matters connected with journey and insurance, on the other hand, the receiving organisation provides with workplaces, accommodation, and transport abroad. Every participant will sign a contract and apprenticeship programme. We want to use ECVET system for the first time. In connection with that hoteliers are to learn skills referring to keeping cleanliness and order in the residential units as well as preparing and serving breakfasts. Food and catering industry technicians must acquire some knowledge about preparing cold and hot drinks. After completing the professional practice will have to present their newly gained qualifications in front of the board. The board will consist of school headmasters, internship teachers and the Polish ones. Skills evaluation will also be held during practice on the basis on the evaluation sheets and practice diary.Developing foreign languages: French, Spanish and English, and upgrading vocational vocabulary connected with a a specific profession is the next goal of our project. We put emphasis on getting to know culture and history of the Mediterranean Sea area.The next goal is a general development of the students, surviving in a foreign country, adaptation to some new living conditions, openness towards new culture as well as tolerance and cooperation in different and unknown reality.Every participant will receive Europass Mobility with ECVET points. Apart from these they will have a note as far as their future working prospects are concerned. Students who have a chance to do their practice abroad, are said to be more into foreign languages and technological news.Thanks to the project results widesprading our students will increase their working opportunities. Moreover, the organization of the „Croatian, Spanish and French Day” at school for the city council and local business people, issuing the brochure and writing some articles will make our school more attractive.
