With the project "Nature without obstacles - people without borders," we want to draw public attention to the fact that people in wheelchairs due to the inaccessible infrastructure and the lack of tolerance are facing discrimination.Project aim - to reduce young people with movement disabilities isolation in society, and to develop young people's social competences through active participation in nature and group process.Main activity of this project - International Youth Exchange, which will take place at 1/07/2016-10/07/2016 in Zarasai district in Gražutė Regional Park's Sabalunkai campsite. 20 young people (including 8 young people with movement disabilities) from Latvia and Lithuania, 4 group leaders and 8 accompanying persons will participate in exchange. For better preparation of Youth exchange two days long APV will be organized, 4 participants will participate. The main learning tool for participants - youth group participating in youth exchange. We will use youth non formal education methods during group process. Young people will be encouraged to take challenges, to experience and try new things in nature and reflect on their experience in the group. During the process young people will learn to get a feedback from others participants in the group. Project participants will increase awareness about disabilities, learn how to communicate properly with a disabled person. Young people will get basic knowledge about universal design and will be able to apply it practically in the environment. All participants will gain confidence and courage to overcome the natural and artificial barriers in nature, youngsters will understand that every person is important for the development of social welfare and equality. Acting together they will become more tolerant, more open-mind, more confident.The project will benefit not only the participants, but also the community, were the project activities will be implemented.Project applicant - VŠĮ Gebėjimų ugdymo centras, a partner - Organization of disabled people and their friends "Apeirons"
