'Games on board: a seminar on games as a method of learning in Non Formal Education'

We are dying to organise a 4.3 SEMINAR within the framework of the Youth in Action Programme. The seminar will take place in Belgium, Leuven and will be organised by youth organisations from Belgium, France, Turkey, Portugal and The Netherlands. Each partner can bring 4 participants to the seminar (excluding facilitators). The seminar,called 'Games on board', deals with games as a method of learning in non formal education. During 5 days (excluding arrival and departure) we want to explore and work upon different aspect of these games. On one hand we want to explore certain issues of games as a method of learning: concept and role of games as a method of learning in NFE, tools for the assessment of the quality of games.On the other hand we want to exchange and really work upon certain aspects of games: facilitation, adjustment and development of games as a method of learning, tools for debriefing and assessment of participants' learning outcome, different kinds of games.We intend to do this within the methods of non formal education: peer education, self directed learning, experiential learning, emphasis on personal learning outcomes, open space working groups, playing of different games, ... Last, but not least we have set up a variety of activities to ensure the realisation of our objectives: from city, night and lots of other games, to open space working groups, intercultural coffee breaks, testing a game with a local youth organisation, creating new tools for debriefing, ...
