G.I.L.D. - Get Involved in Local Democracy

Project G.I.L.D.(Get Involved in Local Democracy) take place in Brtonigla and Buje in Croatia. Six volunteers fromfour different countries (Italy, Spain, Macedonia and Poland) will help in the development of various types of activitiesfrom September 2012 to August 2013 (11 months), which main objectives are:- to increase the level of understanding of nature, role and functions of the European Union, in region, whichshown its uncertainty about the forthcoming accession of Croatia; most of the activities aim to influence theyoung generations of Istrian people;- to outline the characteristics: advantages and challenges of becoming European citizen;- to enrich knowledge of the local population about the diversity of European cultures, languages andtraditions;- to improve the capacity and level of competitiveness of the volunteers, in the context of the General prioritiesfor 2012: active participation in society and especially inclusion of youth in the decision-making institutionsand Local Democracy.Local Democracy Agency will host four of the volunteers and will be responsible for the coordination of the activitiesof another two volunteers, who will be hosted by the Municipality of Buje. With the participation of six volunteers, weare aiming to achieve greater impact on the Croatian youth in this crucial moment of its development.
