The Grandparents & Grandchildren project is about adult digital literacy improvement: it was aimed to promote and facilitate digital active citizenship of elderly people. The project dream was to foster a process of local stakeholders involvement in supporting low cost training initiatives aimed to allow elderly people to gain full citizenship in the digit society. The original aspect of the initiative was that the teachers of the elderly are young volunteer students, who have the role of 'grandchildren' assisting on a one to one basis the 'grandparents' in learning the very basic of internet browsing and e-mail messaging. Young people taught to the elderly only once in history before: when the sons of thousends of immigrants in the USA taught the english language to their parents. The project thus strongly encourages the intergenerational dialogue as well as linguistic diversity and local cultural issues.Realised outcomes:> Opening of G&G net to new countries and Italian regions: Basilicata, Lazio, Sardinia, Romania and Latvia. > G&G website’s content updating former Gym’s training units translating them into the languages as specified in the project [Italian, German, English, Latvian and Rumanian]. Development of two new “upper” training units on word processing and social networking.> Development of a new Handbook for G&G facilitators who will prepare and assist pedagogically grandchildren. Update of grandparents and grandchildren manuals. The G&G UPdate promoter is ENAIP FVG, a private non-profit organization which applies in VET activities for young and adults students innovative pedagogic methods to allow people express their full potential, in life and at work. ENAIP FVG has designed and managed the e-learning project “G&G – Grandparents and Grandchildren” which has been awarded the LLP 2010 Award as best project for "ICT for social Inclusion".
